1 Causeway, Chippenham SN15 3BT, UK – 01249 655511
Really excellent shop for knitting, sewing and vintage vinyl. Friendly, helpful staff in all sections of the shop, who are able to give expert advice. The recent refurbishment has made the shop very spacious and pleasant to spend time in. Prices are not cheap, but they are fair and they stock quality brands.
There are two shops to visit in order to get the best from this vendor! The first, on Station Road, has an good selection of knitting yarns, patterns and books on both knitting and crochet and various accessories, including a good range of needles and crochet hooks. It also has some crafting items, including felt by the yard. However, if it is patchwork and/or dressmaking you are after, you will need to stroll up to the other end of the High Street to the Causeway, where you will find the fabrics. Be warned, the shop is not that easy to spot immediately and the building numbers on the Causeway are not what you would expect; look for a Tudor-style frontage. However, it is worth the search! Lots of notions, including a good array of buttons, ric-rac, ribbons, lace and ribbons for a small shop. You would certainly find what you need here for normal sewing requirements! Butterick, Simplicity, Burda and Vogue pattern books are available for perusal. Amy Butler patterns also available. A selection of patchwork and dressmaking fabric; not a huge range, but then there are so few places around now, it's nice to find any at all! Some Amy Butlers and similar styles; jersey knits for dressmakers and some more unsual fabrics rather than the standard poly-cotton loved by so many smaller shops. Interfacing, zips and lining are all available. If you are anywhere near here, call in.
